We really are the light we seek.

It is not out there anywhere.

We need to understand that we have been programmed to shephard ourselves in unconscious ways that keep us stuck.  We cannot pin our hopes upon any person, place or thing to enlighten us.  Every answer we need is right in our own hearts.  Getting to our hearts and to our soul conscious awareness is the path... and it is an inner journey that starts with increased mindfulness and being fully absorbed and present in the NOW.  Everything is only now, and now, and now.  This moment is the key to our greater selves.  One way to know our inner selves more fully is to practice mindfulness in all we do.

It is also important for us to practice being less distracted by all the things in the world and more focused only on the things that we personally value most.  This includes being willing to own our inner knowing and not placing it anywhere outside of us.  It includes watching how much our society is constantly trying to pull us out of ourselves and onto a screen (tv, computer, phone) and particularly into drama and conflict, creating fear.

Our work is to not engage or get lost in any fear .  We must recognize it, but not become lost in it.  This is true of all thoughts and feelings.  Our job is to be with, not resist... but neither to be absorbed by all thoughts, feelings or emotions that we recognize.  I mention all of this because these aspects of our reality can be a distraction from going within.  And yet, this may also be what we find when look!  But it is not who we are really are.  It is the ripples on the surface of the depth within.  So be prepared to bring love and understanding to all parts of yourself.  Never reject any part of self, but neither over-identify with those parts.  Be curious.  Eventually, much of the confusing elements of the personality will clear away and we can become the clear lights, emanating God/Source, in all we do.  This is the benefit of taking the time to go within and find that diamond in the rough, that buried jewel that is you.

There are many ways to do this, namely through meditation, and there are many forms of meditation to do.  But the bottom line is quiet time, sitting still, observing and being with self.  Time in nature, in silence, watching the breath.  My favorite meditation now is to literally take my full awareness deep into the center or core of what I percieve to be my body and then sense the light.  Sometimes there will be a sense of void, go in, there will be light- call on it, visualize it.  It feels like your imagination, but that center core or void actually is so rich and ultimately full of the light that you are.  I allow that light to emanate out of my core center and into all of my body and even outside of my body by 6, 12 and 24 inches.  I breathe in and out of every pore of my body, this light, and it breathes me, and we become One.  In this I recognize that time and space do not contain me.  I see that my beauty is a gift from the creator and it is my job to remember it, and help others remember it, to make this world a better place.
